Full-Time MA/LPN - Speciality Clinic - Nursing
Cedar County Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA) in the CCMH Specialty Clinic. This position will provide clinical support to specialty clinic providers by assisting with patient care, clinical procedures, documentation, care coordination, and day-to-day clinic operations in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Room patients and obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, pulse, and other measurements as appropriate.
Assist the provider with patient assessments by collecting, documenting, and updating health information in the clinic or by telephone.
Document patient assessments, care provided, provider orders, follow-up instructions, and other pertinent information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Schedule follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, procedures, and referrals as directed by the provider.
Assist the provider with examinations, specialty procedures, treatments, and operation of diagnostic equipment as requested.
Prepare exam and procedure rooms, maintain cleanliness of patient care areas, and utilize appropriate aseptic techniques for procedures and medication administration.
Maintain non-complex clinical instruments and equipment, identify maintenance needs, and coordinate repairs as appropriate.
If requested, serve as a medical scribe by entering provider documentation into the EMR and assisting the provider with reviewing and electronically signing documentation.
Reinforce patient education by confirming understanding of treatment plans, medications, procedures, and follow-up instructions.
Assist with patient registration, answering phones, scanning documents, referrals, prior authorizations, prescription requests, and other clerical duties as assigned.
Communicate test results, provider instructions, and other patient information accurately and in a timely manner, in accordance with provider direction and organizational policy.
Coordinate and assist with specialty clinic patient needs, including referrals, diagnostic testing, records, and follow-up care.
Remain available to the provider throughout scheduled clinic hours, including prolonged periods of sitting or standing while assisting with patient care and documentation.
Administer vaccinations and approved medications, change dressings, perform point-of-care testing, and provide other clinical support within the scope of licensure or certification and organizational policy.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI).
Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements, organizational policies and procedures, professional standards, and Medicare Conditions of Participation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current, unrestricted Missouri Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Current certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred where applicable.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a medical clinic, physician office, or specialty clinic setting preferred.
Specialty clinic experience is preferred but not required.
Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including clinical documentation, referrals, scheduling, and prior authorizations.
Knowledge of clinical standards of care appropriate to the position.
Excellent communication, organizational, customer service, and follow-through skills.
Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a healthcare team.
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with patients, families, providers, and other healthcare personnel.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday while operating a computer and telephone system.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, and frequent use of hands and fingers.
Normal vision, hearing, and verbal communication abilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
