Facilities Manager
Position Summary
Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) has an immediate opening for a Facilities Manager. This leadership position is responsible for directing all aspects of the Facilities Department to ensure the hospital's buildings, grounds, equipment, utilities, and physical environment remain safe, functional, efficient, and compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The Facilities Manager provides leadership and oversight of facility maintenance operations, preventive maintenance programs, vendor and contractor management, environmental and life safety initiatives, and emergency preparedness. This position works collaboratively on capital improvement projects and regulatory compliance related to physical environment of the facilities. Works closely with hospital leadership to support the organization's strategic goals while maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership and Department Management
• Promote the mission, vision, and values of Cedar County Memorial Hospital.
• Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate all functions of the Facilities Department.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate Facilities staff.
• Assign work, establish priorities, and ensure timely completion of maintenance requests.
• Develop departmental policies, procedures, schedules, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment inventories, and documentation.
• Participate in strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives.
Facility Operations
• Direct the maintenance and operation of all hospital buildings, clinics, grounds, utility systems, and equipment.
• Ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, emergency power, medical gas, and life safety systems are maintained in accordance with applicable standards.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Coordinate installation of equipment, office furniture, fixtures, and facility improvements.
• Monitor interior and exterior conditions such as lighting parking lots, sidewalks, landscaping, and grounds.
• Coordinate seasonal maintenance, including snow and ice removal.
• Ensure maintenance work orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance
• Serve as the hospital's Facilities and Safety Manager.
• Adhere to all CCMH infection prevention policies and protocols.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, CMS Conditions of Participation, NFPA Life Safety Code, state licensing requirements, and other applicable regulatory standards.
• Coordinate Environment of Care and Life Safety activities.
• Conduct routine facility inspections and risk assessments.
• Lead workplace safety initiatives and corrective action plans.
• Investigate accidents, safety events, and workers' compensation incidents.
• Maintain emergency preparedness plans related to facilities operations.
• Oversee building access control, security systems, and contractor safety.
Project and Vendor Management
• Work collaboratively with others to plan, coordinate, and oversee construction, remodeling, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
• Obtain bids, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety requirements.
• Maintain service contracts and warranties.
• Collaborate with executive leadership in developing and managing departmental operating and capital budgets.
Maintenance Operations
• Respond to maintenance emergencies and utility failures.
• Perform or coordinate repairs involving plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring, and general maintenance.
• Operate and maintain maintenance vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Assist with floor care, groundskeeping, and other maintenance functions when operational needs require.
• Conduct routine facility rounds to identify maintenance, security, and safety concerns.
• Ensure appropriate documentation of inspections, repairs, testing, and preventive maintenance activities.
Reporting and Performance Improvement
• Prepare reports related to maintenance activities, safety inspections, regulatory compliance, utilities, and departmental performance.
• Monitor departmental performance indicators.
• Participate in quality improvement and continuous performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain documentation required for accreditation surveys and regulatory inspections.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong leadership, supervisory, organizational, and team-building skills.
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical systems, and commercial building maintenance.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CMS Conditions of Participation, NFPA Life Safety Code, Joint Commission standards (if applicable), and healthcare facility regulations.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment including tractors, loaders, snowplows, lifts, saws, drills, floor scrubbers, strippers, and buffers.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical, trade school, or associate degree in Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
• Valid Missouri driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible facilities maintenance experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Healthcare facilities, Critical Access Hospital, or long-term care maintenance experience preferred.
• Have or be willing to obtain FEMA certificate for Incident Command System (ICS)
• Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
• Willingness to travel to CCMH sites in El Dorado Springs and Stockton as needed.

• Support departmental and organizational quality improvement initiatives.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Ability to move furniture, equipment, and maintenance materials.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, chemicals, dust, blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, radiation, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to safely operate power tools, maintenance vehicles, and mechanical equipment.
• Must be available for emergency response and on-call responsibilities outside normal business hours as required.
