Cardiac Rehab Manager, RN
JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Job Summary:
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Manager, RN is responsible for the overall leadership, management, coordination, and oversight of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in accordance with current evidence-based guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards. The Manager provides direct patient care while overseeing departmental operations, staff performance, program development, quality improvement initiatives, budgetary planning, and strategic growth of cardiac rehabilitation services.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Manager collaborates with the Cardiologist, attending provider, and organizational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, patient-centered rehabilitation services. The Manager maintains accurate and complete records of all patient encounters and departmental activities while functioning within the scope of professional nursing practice, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, Cedar County Memorial Hospital policies, and the Facility Code of Conduct and Ethical Behavior. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Manager will directly report to the Chief Operating Officer.
Job Duties:
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Leadership and Program Management:
• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of all Cardiac Rehabilitation Program operations.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and revise departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and workflows in collaboration with physicians and hospital leadership.
• Ensure program compliance with applicable federal, state, accreditation, and payer requirements.
• Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate cardiac rehabilitation personnel.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, orientation, competency validation, scheduling, performance evaluations, and corrective action processes as needed.
• Coordinate departmental staffing to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery.
• Lead departmental meetings and facilitate communication among staff, physicians, and administration.
• Monitor productivity, quality indicators, patient outcomes, and program effectiveness.
• Participate in strategic planning and growth initiatives for Cardiac Rehabilitation and related outpatient cardiovascular services.
• Assist with budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, and identifying opportunities for operational improvement and revenue enhancement.
Clinical Responsibilities:
• Evaluate patients prior to initiation of rehabilitation services, including patient history, physical assessment, risk factor assessment, and appropriate testing; document findings appropriately.
• Assist with patient orientation and development of individualized treatment plans, exercise prescriptions, and patient-centered goals.
• Utilize department technology and monitoring systems effectively to assess patient status and facilitate documentation.
• Supervise exercise sessions and monitor patients for inappropriate responses to exercise; provide clinical intervention and referrals as appropriate.
• Ensure completion of daily documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Report significant patient conditions to the patient's physician promptly and initiate emergency care and/or ACLS interventions according to hospital policy.
• Promote discharge planning and patient/family education related to lifestyle modification, home exercise programs, and cardiovascular risk reduction.
• Complete Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) upon admission, every 30 days, and at discharge.
• Perform and oversee six-minute walk testing and other required assessments.
• Participate in the RN on-call schedule.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance:
• Act responsibly and exercise sound judgment in support of organizational compliance and ethical business practices.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate actively in hospital-wide performance improvement activities.
• Monitor clinical outcomes and implement evidence-based practice improvements.
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection prevention, and emergency preparedness standards.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all protected health information.
• Ensure staff compliance with required certifications, competencies, and continuing education requirements.
Qualifications:
• Current, unrestricted Missouri Registered Nurse license.
• Associate’s degree in nursing required.
• Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, including cardiac care and/or cardiac rehabilitation experience.
• Minimum two (2) years of leadership, supervisory, charge nurse, or management experience preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Demonstrated competency in EKG rhythm interpretation and cardiovascular patient assessment.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Leadership and personnel management skills.
• Budget development and financial stewardship experience.
• Program planning, implementation, and evaluation experience.
• Knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, and reimbursement requirements related to cardiac rehabilitation.
• Ability to analyze operational data and develop performance improvement strategies.
• Strong conflict resolution and team-building skills.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required to support departmental and organizational objectives.
