Registered Nurse – Med-Surg/ER
CCMH has an opening for a full-time Registered Nurse in our Med/Surg and Emergency Departments. This position provides direct care to patients using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation as well as functions and performs all technical aspects of nursing care within the framework of established policies and procedures of Cedar County Memorial Hospital.
Duties and responsibilities for this position will include 1) Demonstrates and uses knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, principles of physical and psychosocial growth and development over the life span, cultural diversity, and learning needs of the patients assigned 2) Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans 3) Reports significant findings upon admission and on-going assessments to appropriate members of health care team (HCT), recognizes and charts changes in patient’s physical and mental status, and repots to the physician and HCT members timely 4) Serve as the communication liaison to family members 5) Take and monitor patient vital signs 6) Prepare and administer (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) prescribed medications and document such. Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse 7) Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol 8) Record all care information concisely, accurately. and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms; enter all required information into EHR system 9) When assigned to ER, assist as needed and time permitting on Med-Surg unit; when assigned to Med-Surg unit, assist as needed and time permits in ER 10) Initiates discharge planning process with initial admission assessment.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Physical Requirements: 1) Current, unencumbered Missouri license to practice as a Registered Nurse (minimum Associate Degree in Nursing); 2) Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certification (or able to acquire within the first 6 months of being placed in position) 3) Must successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing 4) Critical thinking and exceptional organizational skills 5) Commitment to continual improvement of nursing skills through participation in educational opportunities on and off the job 6) Must be physically able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist and turn, push and pull – sometimes from awkward positions – safely; ability to safely lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. and assist with moving patients up to 300 pounds; vision, hearing and dexterity skills must be within normal limits 7) effective verbal communication skills a must, including correct and appropriate use of medical terminology
