Job Description
PRN LPN or RN
Cedar County Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a PRN LPN or RN. This position will provide nursing support throughout multiple clinical and acute care departments, including outpatient clinics, inpatient patient care units, and the Emergency Department. The successful candidate must be flexible, adaptable, and able to provide high-quality patient care in a variety of healthcare settings. Schedule and hours will vary based on departmental staffing and patient care needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
• Room patients and obtain vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation, weight, height, etc.).
• Assist providers with patient assessments by gathering and documenting pertinent health information in person or via telephone.
• Accurately document patient assessments, care provided, patient education, discharge instructions, and follow-up appointments within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and operation of diagnostic equipment as directed.
• Provide direct patient care and nursing support in outpatient clinic settings, inpatient units, and the Emergency Department as assigned.
• Monitor, assess, and report changes in patient condition to the appropriate provider or supervisor.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, treatments, and basic wound care in accordance with provider orders, nursing standards of practice, and hospital policy.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas while adhering to infection prevention, infection control, and aseptic techniques.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance, identify equipment concerns, and coordinate necessary repairs.
• Serve as a scribe within the EMR system when requested and assist with document review, completion, and provider signature workflows.
• Confirm patient understanding of treatment plans, medication instructions, discharge instructions, and follow-up recommendations.
• Ensure timely and accurate communication of patient results, provider recommendations, and follow-up needs.
• Remain available throughout assigned shifts and respond appropriately to patient care needs in all assigned departments.
• Float between departments and work areas based on staffing requirements and patient care demands.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policy.
• Adhere to all CCMH policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
• Current, unrestricted Missouri LPN or RN license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in a medical clinic, hospital, emergency department, or related healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to effectively navigate EMR systems, including documentation, referrals, prior authorizations, and patient communications.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of nursing standards of care.
• Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Flexibility to float between departments and adapt to changing patient care needs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide coverage on an as-needed basis.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and provide exceptional patient care in a variety of clinical settings.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout multiple departments during assigned shifts.
• Ability to lift, transfer, push, or carry up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for patient care activities and operation of medical equipment.
• Visual, hearing, speaking, and dexterity abilities sufficient to perform essential job functions.
• Ability to manage moderate to high workloads while maintaining quality patient care and documentation standards.
