Cedar County Memorial Hospital Welcomes Primary Care Physician, Del Charbonier, M.D.

November 3, 2026 – Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) is pleased to announce that Del Charbonier, M.D., has joined its medical staff as a primary care physician. Dr. Charbonier will begin seeing patients at Medical Mall Clinic beginning the first week of December and is now accepting appointments for new patients.

Dr. Charbonier is a board-certified internist with more than 30 years of experience, including extensive work in geriatrics. He is also board certified in nuclear cardiology. For nearly four decades, he served as medical director of Schoenherr Medical Associates in Warren, Michigan, where he led an internal medicine practice that included urgent care and a nuclear cardiology program. Most recently, he has served as a primary care physician and general manager for Oak Street Health in Michigan, overseeing all aspects of the practice.

Medicine runs in Dr. Charbonier’s family. Both of his parents were physicians, and his father was an internist and gastroenterologist who made a point of keeping up with the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Charbonier said he remembers a Christmas when he was about twelve years old; his main gift was a two-volume medical reference set. He still has it today.

“We are fortunate to have talented providers who faithfully serve our community,” said Don Carpenter, CCMH Chief Executive Officer. “Dr. Charbonier’s decades of experience caring for older adults complements that work and helps advance our strategy to grow primary care services in our community.”

Dr. Charbonier says his approach to care centers on listening. “I never rush a visit, because the most important questions often come at the end,” he said. “I’m looking forward to caring for this community and helping Cedar County memorial Hospital and its clinics continue to grow.”

A longtime teacher, Dr. Charbonier has trained medical students from Wayne State University School of Medicine and nurse practitioner students from Georgetown University, Mercy College, and Chamberlain University. He has also supported veterans with disability assessments and performed annual exams and follow-up care for September 11 first responders through a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Dr. Charbonier earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami School of Medicine. He is married and the proud father of five children.

Patients interested in establishing care with Dr. Charbonier may schedule an appointment by visiting Medical Mall Clinic or calling 417-876-3333.
