Cedar County Memorial Hospital Invites Community to "Walk & Roll for Cardiac Rehab"
August 26, 2026 — Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) invites community members, local families, and regional businesses to join Walk & Roll for Cardiac Rehab, an inclusive event celebrating heart health, patient recovery, and the vital role of local cardiac care. Guided by the slogan "At Your Pace, For Your Heart," the Walk & Roll event is designed for all mobility and fitness levels. Whether running, walking, or rolling on wheels, community members can participate together at their own pace.
Walk & Roll for Cardiac Rehab will take place on Saturday, October 3 at Cedar County Memorial Hospital, 1401 South Park Street, El Dorado Springs. Check-In begins at 8 AM and the walk will begin at 8:30. Registration is $15 for ages 13 and older. CCMH Cardiac Rehab patients and kids 12 and under are free and will also need to register. Commemorative T-shirts are available for $15 and must be ordered by Sept 23. All proceeds from the event will benefit CCMH Cardiac Rehab program.
The walk offers two routes that start at the hospital and loop around the neighboring residential area including a traditional 5K (approximately 3 mile) and a 2-mile loop.
The fun walk is not a race and there won’t be any prizes for being the fastest completion. However, participants won’t be without exciting prizes and friendly competition. A group prize will be awarded to the largest team. A “Best Spirit” category will award gift cards to the best dressed team, adult, and child – whether dressed in the rock and roll event theme, a heart or health theme, or some other creative costume. A handful of other contests and door prizes will also be awarded. CCMH Cardiac Rehab Manager Shawn Andreasen, RN says this event is all about good health and good fun.
“We are so excited for this event,” beamed Andreasen. “The community and families rallying together behind our awesome group of cardiac rehab patients is special to witness. Everyone benefits from an event like this, and we are grateful for the many people who are jumping in to be a part of it.”
Health and safety are a priority for the event. Signage will alert traffic of pedestrians on the road and several volunteers on foot and utility vehicles will monitor for and take care of anyone in distress. Hospital staff will offer blood pressure checks, as well as hydration and nutrition stop along the trail. Non-service animals and audible personal music will not be allowed.
Registration is open now through the morning of the event. To register, pick up a form at 1401 S. Park or download here. Return the registration form and payment to Cedar County Memorial Hospital registration desk. For more information, call 417-876-3745.
