Cedar County Memorial Hospital Recognized for Zero Hospital-Acquired Infections
El Dorado Springs, MO (January 23, 2026) — The Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) Board of Trustees met in regular session Wednesday, January 21, to hear financial and operational updates, and the hospital’s plan for quality improvement for the coming year.
The board approved a list of indicators that department leaders identified as important metrics to track and measure quality improvement throughout the year. Trustees chose priority quality measures such as patient follow-up and surveys, turnover rates, emergency department transfers and necessity, use of personal protective equipment, referral to start times, and frequency of mental health assessments.
Chief Financial Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer, Carla Gilbert presented trustees with a request to the Cedar County Health Department to place signage for the Medical Mall Clinic on the health department’s garage in the Medical Mall parking lot that would improve visibility of the clinic’s location from the highway. Trustees were unanimously in favor of sending the request to the health department.
Gilbert followed with a preliminary end of year financial report. She noted that with the change of fiscal year ending in December instead of January has caused some problems and some more time is needed to finalize the report.

Chief Nursing Officer, BreAnn Jackson reported that the hospital received recognition from Missouri Hospital Association for having zero Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) in 2025. HAIs include preventable infections such as Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections, Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections, and Surgical Site Infections. Industry data shows that hospitals across the country are improving their rates of HAIs but it is rare to achieve zero. Since 2004, Missouri law has required hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers to report specific HAI data to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Jackson also reported there were 19 denials for payment by managed Medicare plans for in-patient and swing bed stays in 2025. All denials were then followed up with a peer-to-peer review and resubmitted. Ultimately, seven admissions payments remained denied.
