Cedar County Memorial Hospital Welcomes New Infection Preventionist
Cortney Culbertson, RN accepts role in Infection Control, Employee Health and Outpatient Wound Care and Infusion Services
November 20, 2025 -Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Cortney Culbertson, RN to Infection Control Preventionist. As manager of infection control, employee health and wound and infusion services, Culbertson’s role includes many responsibilities. She will work to ensure regulatory compliance, healthy and safety of patients and staff, accurate surveillance and reporting of healthcare-associated infections, and high-quality wound and infusion services in an integrated, patient-centered manner.
“Cortney is known for her keen eye for detail,” said BreAnn Jackson, BSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer at CCMH. “She possesses a wealth of experience, a passion for infection prevention, and is dedicated to this critical role. She is eager to educate, streamline processes, and implement innovative ideas that strengthen our infection prevention program.”
An El Dorado Springs native, Culbertson is deeply committed to patient safety and quality care. Colleagues describe her as quick learner, a people person and enthusiastic about advancing evidence-based practices. She has been a member of the CCMH staff since 2016, when she was first licensed as a practical nurse at Nevada Regional Technical Center. In 2020, she graduated from the Crowder College nursing program as a registered nurse.
“My goal is to provide outstanding patient care, ensure the hospital environment remains hygienic, sanitary, and safe, and to ensure the fundamental health of fellow employees,” shared Culbertson.
Previous Infection Control Preventionist, Chris Roe, RN, IPCN will provide training for Culbertson through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition. Simultaneously, Roe will be transitioning into her own new role of Care Manager at CCMH. She will be working closely with patients, families, providers, and payors to ensure effective utilization of services and timely authorizations. Additionally, she will coordinate comprehensive discharge planning, taking into consideration the nonmedical factors that impact a patient’s health, or social determinants of health.
