OR / Surgery Manager
• CCMH has an opening for a full-time OR/Surgery Manager. Duties and responsibilities for this position will include 1.) Oversee management of perioperative services operationally and fiscally. 2) Verify that perioperative personnel provide safe and effective patient-centered care in all perioperative services. 3)Directs and assists perioperative personnel in the evaluation process and creating strategies for further improvement. 4)Ensure that OR and/or surgical procedure are performed on correct patient. 5)Coordinates, facilities, and manages change within perioperative services personnel and holds personnel accountable for compliance within perioperative services throughout surgery units. 6)Demonstrates professionalism and leadership in communications, consultations, negotiations and collaboration with all personnel involved in OR/Surgery processes. 7)Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol. 8) Collect and analyze data related to quality or performance improvement projects that apply to perioperative services. 9)Actively participate in surgeries providing guidance, instruction, and training to reporting medical staff. 10)Facilitates and serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary surgery team in planning perioperative patient care. 11)Interviews for perioperative personnel skeleton and evaluates perioperative personnel performance. 12)Provides guidance, support, and constructive feedback to perioperative team members as appropriate, leading by example. 13)Acts with integrity as patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all PHI and other private information.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Physical Requirements: 1) Current, unencumbered Missouri license to practice as a Registered Nurse (minimum Associate Degree in Nursing, with Bachelor’s/BSN degree preferred);
2) Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certification (or able to acquire within first 6 months of being placed in position). 3) Minimum of three years varied and progressive perioperative services experience or perioperative nursing management experience with an increasing level of administrative responsibility and authority. 4) Critical thinking and exceptional organization skills a must as well as the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels within facility hierarchy. 5) Commitment to continual improvement of nursing skills through participation in educational opportunities on and off the job. 6) Must be physically able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist and turn, push and pull – sometimes from awkward positions – safely; ability to safely lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. and assist with moving patients up to 300 pounds; vision, hearing and dexterity skills must be within normal limits. 7)Effective verbal communication skills a must, including correct and appropriate use of medical terminology.
