CCMH Hosts Town Hall Meeting
Stakeholders Identify and Prioritize Community Health Needs
November 12, 2025 - Community stakeholders and residents were invited to participate in a Town Hall Meeting that took place on November 11th hosted by Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH). Participants reviewed results of the September Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Survey coupled with data provided by VVV Consulting, LLC, a company experienced in conducting CHNAs for hospitals across multiple states.
As VVV Consulting presented data comparing Cedar County health statistics trends over recent years and against state and rural averages, the group began to discern emerging unmet needs as well as strengths within the community. Results from a community survey held throughout the month of September were also reviewed. Information gathered from 115 responses largely concurred with findings of the statistics.
“We want to improve community health outcomes so that people want to stay in our community,” began Vince Vandehaar, Principal Consultant at VVV Consulting as he outlined the objectives for the meeting. “We are going to determine the factors that impact the health of a population and what resources are available to address unmet needs.”
Topping the list of at least a dozen identified community health needs included affordable housing, nutrition and food insecurity, lack of health insurance coverage, lack of daycare availability/affordability, depression/ suicide rates, and drug/ alcohol abuse.
“We are grateful for those who have taken the time to contribute to this assessment,” said Carla Gilbert, CFO & Interim CEO at CCMH. “Quality input and data is key to addressing health needs. Our rural area is seeing a trend of population growth so we need to work together and be proactive about health to set ourselves up for success as a community.”
A third stage of the assessment process will take place in early December as stakeholders reconvene to discuss resources and strategies to address priority needs. Afterwards, a complete report and implementation plan will be announced and posted to the CCMH website. For more information about the CHNA process, click here.
