Cedar County Memorial Hospital Welcomes Endocrinologist
Maria Gomes, MD FACE provides endocrinology at CCMH Specialty Clinic
December 16, 2025 — Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) is pleased to announce the addition of a new physician and specialty to El Dorado Springs. Maria Gomes, MD, FACE is now providing endocrinology services in the CCMH Specialty Clinic. Dr. Gomes brings extensive expertise in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, and obesity medicine to Cedar County communities.
Dr. Gomes is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism; Obesity Medicine; and Internal Medicine. She holds the prestigious distinction of Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, a designation that recognizes her commitment to excellence in endocrine practice and patient care. Dr. Gomes has many years of experience working with the VA, providing care for veterans. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she embraced remote medicine. She has continued to use this model to provide endocrine care to patients in rural locations of the country where specialty care is often limited.
“I found that I could provide our veterans with care similar to a traditional face-to-face visit, giving the same high-quality, evidence-based treatments,” shared Dr. Gomes.
Through telehealth at the CCMH Specialty Clinic, Dr. Gomes provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients experiencing hormonal imbalances such as diabetes and thyroid disorders. Some other common conditions that Dr. Gomes may manage include adrenal disorders, lipid disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), metabolic and growth abnormalities, and issues related to sexual function and reproduction.
“The addition of Dr. Gomes to our medical team reflects our hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing specialized healthcare services that benefit our community,” said BreAnn Jackson, RN, Chief Nursing Officer at CCMH. “Area residents can receive expert treatment for complex hormonal conditions without the burden of traveling long distances.”
Common symptoms that may indicate a hormonal condition include excessive thirst or urination, unexplained weight changes, persistent fatigue, irregular periods, or increased hair growth. Dr. Gomes works collaboratively with primary care providers to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care for each patient. She is accepting new patients and a referral from the primary care provider with notes will be required.
Dr. Gomes sees patients at the CCMH Specialty Clinic, located at 1401 S. Park Street in El Dorado Springs. The clinic offers convenient access to comprehensive diagnostic services including laboratory testing and imaging. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Gomes, patients should talk with their primary care provider for a referral.
