Cedar County Memorial Hospital Launches Nuclear Medicine Services

June 2, 2026 — Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) is proud to announce the official opening of its new Nuclear Medicine service line. This major service expansion brings advanced diagnostic imaging directly to El Dorado Springs, saving area residents from having to drive long distances to city hospitals for specialized scans.

Nuclear medicine represents a significant leap forward for local healthcare. While traditional imaging like standard X-rays primarily takes pictures of what your body looks like on the inside, nuclear medicine looks deeper to see how your organs and tissues are functioning in real-time. This sophisticated technology helps doctors spot health issues much earlier and map out more precise treatment plans.

This versatile new imaging service will be used to evaluate and diagnose a wide range of conditions throughout the body. Doctors rely on nuclear medicine for comprehensive cardiac stress tests to check blood flow to the heart, as well as specialized lung scans to look for blood clots. It is also highly effective for diagnosing digestive tract and stomach motility disorders, checking gallbladder performance, identifying hidden bone fractures or infections, and monitoring thyroid function. By offering these diverse scans under one roof, CCMH provides a comprehensive diagnostic toolkit for area physicians.

In addition to bringing world-class technology to the area, CCMH has prioritized affordability and convenience for its patients. The hospital has intentionally structured its fees to offer the lowest pricing in the region for nuclear imaging. Patients can get their appointments scheduled quickly and their doctors will get results fast.

"Our mission is to provide high-quality, accessible healthcare to our community," said Chief Operations Officer, Matthew Pruitt. "By offering this new imaging service, we are making sure our neighbors get the critical answers they need closer to home, closer to their families, and at an unbeatable hometown value."

Scheduling for Nuclear Medicine is officially open, and local doctors can begin submitting patient referrals immediately.
